OverviewThe Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa (Land Bank) is South Africa’s only specialist agricultural bank. Established in 1912, Land Bank is a wholly government-owned Development Finance Institution (DFI), with the sole mandate of financing agricultural development to achieve food security, and to drive economic growth and development in South Africa. It is charged with promoting agricultural and rural development, as well as providing a range of financial products and services, including insurance such as crop insurance to farmers and agribusinesses.
Land Bank's sole objective is to serve South African commercial and emerging agriculture by bringing specially designed financial services within the reach of farmers across the nation. These services enable farmers to finance land, equipment, improve assets and obtain production credit. Today, the Bank is a true South African development finance institution that strives to serve all farmers equally.
