Overview
As South Africa’s designated postal operator, the South African Post Office SOC Ltd (SAPO) is a strategic national asset mandated to deliver universal access to postal, financial and public services – anchored in the principles of accessibility, affordability and inclusion.
Established under the Postal Act 44 of 1958 and the Postal Services Act 124 of 1998, SAPO plays a critical role in advancing government’s developmental state agenda. It is a key enabler of public service delivery, inclusive economic participation and social integration – particularly in rural, underserved and historically marginalised communities.
With one of the largest physical networks in the country, SAPO connects government, business and citizens through a broad range of regulated services, including postal, courier, freight, financial and retail solutions. These offerings are delivered through a nationwide and cross-border retail and distribution platform.
SAPO remains committed to enhancing service delivery, advancing universal access, and enabling inclusive growth in line with South Africa’s national development priorities.
